Unsurprisingly, cost of living pressures have heightened in the last 12 months, with increasing concern among participants as to the cost of their electricity bill, alongside other household bills.
Over half of participants are now concerned they may be unable to pay electricity bills (56%, up from 53%). Participants most likely to have this worry include renters (66%), those without rooftop solar panels (60%) and those with lower incomes (less than $31K) (60%).
However, fewer participants are expecting a significant electricity price increase in next 12 months (48%, down from 59% last year).
Interest and engagement with electricity bills has grown in 2024. This year, more survey participants know what tariff their household uses (37%, up from 34%) and with the recent government rebates, more have checked their bill this year to ensure their rebates have been applied (49%, up from 40% last year).
